hEAD cOACH: Jose Leon
Coach of the University of Minnesota Women's Club soccer team since January, 2021.
Jose Leon is a Mexican-born University of Minnesota Alumni. At just the age of four his family emigrated to the United States in hope for a better future. Jose grew up playing soccer but at a young age began to see the game in a new light and immersed himself into his own community in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Starting at the age of sixteen, he began coaching and did so with the same passion he found in playing the sport. After now nearing almost a decade of experience as a coach, Jose instills a knowledgeable perspective and understanding of the game to players of all ages. For several years now Jose has stepped into the Park Valley United FC's Youth Academy (a local club) as a director. He also has experience coaching at the high school level for St. Louis Park High School, leading several of the JV teams and assisting on varsity stage. When he is not on the field with his teams or full clubs, he enjoys giving private lessons to kids. Jose's versatility, pure passion for the game, and aptitude will push the UMNW's program to the next level.
